Outdoor Education
The Outdoor Education Group (OEG) is responsible for all camps in Years 7, 8 and 10. Outdoor Education is compulsory for all students.
The philosophy of the OEG is all about relationships. Challenging outdoor activities are used as a medium for students to explore and learn in three distinct areas of education:
- Personal development
- Social development
- Environmental education
In Year 7 the students spend four days at the Jungai centre in Eildon. The Year 7 camp is based around the theme - a sense of belonging. It is used to build a stronger sense of self, belonging to the school and broader cultural community and a sense of belonging to the natural environment.
The Year 8 camp is held in the Buxton region of country Victoria. In this camp students will experience bushwalking, canoeing, complete a high ropes course and take part in personal initiative activities.
The Year 10 camp gives students two choices, either canoeing on the Murray River or White Water Rafting on the Mitchell River. This is a fully self catered camp which means the students are responsible for their own food over the five days they are away.
