Tournament of Minds

Tournament of Minds is a national interschool problem solving program designed to challenge the minds of students from both primary and secondary schools. It is an opportunity for students with a passion for learning and problem solving to demonstrate their skills and talents in an exciting, vibrant and public way. Students are required to solve demanding, open-ended problems from one of the following disciplines: Language Literature, Maths, Engineering or Social Sciences.

The Knox School first took part in the Tournament of Minds competition in 1989, winning the National competition in the Humanities section in 1992. Since then we have progressed to several State and National finals and in 2005 we were the Victorian State Champions and a National finalist. In 2007, 7 teams entered the Tournament of Minds reaching the State Finals. All 7 teams took out honours, and 3 of those teams went forward to the State Finals where 2 teams placed second. The Knox School’s outstanding success in the Tournament of Minds is credit to the creativity, ingenuity and problem solving ability of our students.
