Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are your class sizes?

All class sizes from Prep to Year 12 are capped at 24 students.

2. How many students are there at the School?

There are approximately 800 students (boys and girls) across the entire School from Pre Prep to Year 12.

3. Is The Knox School affiliated with a religion?

No. The Knox School is a non-denominational school, welcoming students from all faiths and backgrounds.

4. How much are the fees?

The Knox School is an independent school and our total fees (including compulsory levies) range from $7,900 to $14,920 p.a. Please contact the School Registrar for a detailed Fee Schedule on +61 3 8805 3814 or registrar@knox.vic.edu.au

5. When is the best time to enrol?

Early enrolment is always recommended as it can be difficult to foresee what the demand for a particular year level will be.  Some areas such as the Pre Prep and Prep year levels are restricted in the numbers they can take and therefore fill up very quickly.  The demand for students entering the school at Year 7 has also grown rapidly with full intakes in the past few years.

6. How do I enrol?

An Application for Enrolment form can be obtained from the Registrar and needs to be completed and returned with the $250 enrolment fee. This fee is non refundable and per child.  Early enrolment (at least a year prior to entry) should safely secure a place at the required year level.

7. Are there waiting lists?

Yes. The demand for some year levels necessitates the need for children to be waitlisted.  To avoid being placed on a waiting list early enrolment is highly recommended (at least a year prior to entry).

8. Is there compulsory Saturday sport?

No. There is no Saturday sport at The Knox School.

9. Does The Knox School offer a bus service?

Yes. We offer five chartered bus routes from surrounding suburbs, comprising of two coach services run specifically for The Knox School and three of our own buses. Additional bus stops and new bus routes will be considered given demand. Click here for more information about our location and transport options.

10. Can I come and see the School?

Yes! The Knox School invites prospective parents and their children to enjoy a Tour with the Principal. There are nine Tours with the Principal held throughout the year. These tours are an opportunity to observe classrooms in action and our facilities, and to talk with the Principal, Ms. Suzanne McChesney or the relevant Head of School about the School’s programs and offerings. We also offer one-on-one School Tours on request. Click here to find out more about our Tours with the Principal.

11. Can my child come and spend a day at The Knox School with no obligation to enrol?

Yes. Our ‘Spend a Day’ program is open to students who are considering entering Year 1 to Year 12 at The Knox School. Prospective students are immersed in The Knox School, attending classes, excursions, going to assemblies, events or even the canteen for lunch, as if they were a current student.
