Performing Arts
The Performing Arts are part of The Knox School’s curriculum and co-curricular activities, but an important aspect of their purpose is to draw The Knox School community together.
The Knox School offers students the opportunity to participate in numerous professional and competitive events in local, national and international arenas.
The biennial School Musical is a highlight event and provides students
with practical theatre and performance experience via involvement in a
complete theatrical production in a professional theatre environment. Students
are also encouraged to contribute as a member of the technical and backstage
crew, along with a keen and dedicated team of The Knox School staff and
parents. This is a Performing Arts activity by the community, for the community.
The 2008 School Musical Production was the bright and dynamic ‘Thoroughly
Modern Millie' which was performed at the Whitehorse Theatre in the second
week of July, 2008 and received awards and commendations from the Victorian
Theatre Guild.
In April 2010, plans are well under way to be on stage again at
the Whitehorse Theatre with "Back to the 80s!"
The Knox School participates in national performance competitions including
the Rock Eisteddfod (we won the Grand Final in our division in 2009!), Wakakirri - a national storytelling festival
involving Junior and Middle School students, and J-Rock. Our students
also compete in Music and Drama Eisteddfods, the ‘Generations In Jazz’
competition in Mt. Gambier and the ‘Rhapsody Rotorua' competition which
will be held in New Zealand in 2010.
The Performing Arts at The Knox School are energetic, exciting and all-encompassing!
