Recently developed is the innovative and practical
Health and Sport Science program. Involving traditional curriculum with
practical applications, students from Years Seven to Ten have the opportunity
to develop their knowledge during a key period of physical, social and
emotional development. Topics including risk taking, sexual development,
substance education and body image are intertwined with innovative studies
involving nutrition, motor control, physiology and biomechanics. Students
are faced with a curriculum that educates and challenges them both academically
and physically.
Making use of the exceptional facilities including indoor stadium, synthetic hockey pitch and conditioning studio allow modern sport science concepts to be integrated within the core curriculum. The multimedia studio, online resources and modern classrooms provide an innovative platform for both teaching and learning, whilst encouraging diverse assessment. Students electing to study Health and Sport Science at Year Ten level have the opportunity to attend the Australian Institute of Sport during a three day theoretical and practical experience.
Students at The Knox School have the opportunity to undertake Physical Education and Health and Sport Science as a core component of the curriculum through to Senior College.
With the Sport program complimenting this study, students have significant access to physical activity. Fitness, participation and skill development are the keys in a program that focus on student learning and improvement. Modern facilities and a creative curriculum equate to an educational experience that accommodates all levels of skill and fitness.
