Transition to Prep

The Knox School considers the orientation process for its Prep students as a vital part of the process of transition from Kindergarten, Pre-School or the Early Learning Centre to School. All Prep students are able to visit the School on a number of occasions, either formally or informally, in order to become familiar with the surroundings, students and staff. Research shows that a well-structured orientation program is likely to ensure a smooth transition to school.

The Head of The Junior School interviews all prospective students and their parents, and a tour of the school is part of the process. Early in Term Four, an ELC Information Evening is held where the Prep program is discussed and information given in order to prepare the students and families for school. There are three more opportunities for Prep students to spend time with their possible class members and teachers, including a Mini-Olympics afternoon.
