Every student in Year 5 to Year 7 has the opportunity to learn a musical instrument at no additional cost as part of the Music Explode Program. Students can choose their own instruments and receive training once a week in a group situation. The Classroom Music curriculum is linked to the Instrumental Explode Program, providing students with a thorough and rounded Music Education.
The Music Explode Program is part of the core curriculum offered to Year 5 to Year 7 students. Students have the opportunity to play a variety of exciting instruments in a range of ensembles including brass, woodwind, strings, bands and choirs. Students are encouraged to enrol in the Instrumental Music Program if they wish to receive expert individual instrumental tuition.
There are numerous performance opportunities including concerts for all year levels as well as a busy Music Concert Series which continues throughout the year.
The Lower Middle School runs a personal growth and development course as part of the curriculum that deals with issues affecting young people such as peer pressure, time management, dealing with stress, nerves, bullies, anxiety, study skills, values, leadership, puberty, body image, learning styles and homework.

Students from both year levels will have worked productively together during the year and will be able to continue to do so during camp. Although attending together, both Year 5 and 6 undertake separate programs.
Year 7 camp to The Grampians provides an ideal opportunity early in the academic year for students to bond. Camp provides an ideal opportunity for students to build on their skills and confidence whilst undertaking a range of challenging, team-building activities.
