Our new Year 8/9 centre
Based on extensive research into the psyche of young people aged 14 and 15 in today’s society, we have designed a unique two year program and centre to cater for their specific needs.
Understanding their world allows us to develop a curriculum that will truly engage students and help them to connect to the school, their parents and to each other.
A challenging mix of academic and activities-based subjects will form a solid foundation for VCE studies as well as assist students to discover their own identity; a task that is critical for the emerging adult. Empowering students and giving them a sense of value as they participate in community service projects both within the school and in the wider community.
With an emphasis on pastoral care, the new centre is home to our Year 8 and 9 students and a mixture of male and female staff who are specifically trained to deal with adolescents.
The purpose built centre has an environmentally sustainable design with the capacity for solar panels, heat pumps and rain water harvesting, as well as a vegetable garden, frog bog and worm farm.
