Assisted Learning
The Assisted and Accelerated Learning Centre (AAL) at The Knox
School provides support for students with special needs, from Prep through
to Year Twelve. As students have strengths and weaknesses and different
learning styles, the student support program is tailored to suit the
learning needs of individual students.
Support is offered in-class or on a withdrawal basis, which may be in a small group or one-to-one. Work may be modified or adapted to suit the students’ abilities in order to assist them to reach their full potential.
The primary goals of the Assisted and Accelerated Learning Centre
are to encourage independence and responsibility for the students’ own
learning and to ensure success so that self-esteem is maintained.
The AAL Staff work collaboratively with the teaching staff, parents
and students in order to achieve a coordinated approach toward student
learning.
The AAL centre operates a "Drop-In" centre for all students requiring extra support with their subjects.
This operates during lunchtime in room 409.
