The Australian Education Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of the country’s top performing schools, principals, department heads and teachers.

The awards define excellence in the K-12 education sector with any individual or school operating in Australian K-12 education eligible to submit a nomination, reflecting the achievements and results of the previous 12 months.

We are proud to announce that The Knox School has received notification that nominations in three categories have been selected as finalists in the annual Australian Educator Awards:

– Mr Richard Black for Teacher of the Year
– Ms Birgit Verhagen for Department Head of the Year
– Best School Strategic Plan

After nomination, the Australian Education Awards team conducts further research and draws on knowledge and information gained through connections in education in order to support nominations received and to ensure that no individual or school deserving of recognition is missed. Finalists are determined from both pools of information.

This is a tremendous achievement for both Mr Black and Ms Verhagen and we congratulate them heartily.

It also represents a prestigious acknowledgment of the vision which our strategic direction affords where we work as a community to connect, shape, provoke and position our young people, preparing them for their futures.

The finals will be held in August and we look forward to what possible success lies ahead.

Congratulations once again to Mr Black and Ms Verhagen; their nominations are simply marvellous validation for their tireless contributions to student learning and reflective of the outstanding teaching and learning taking place every day at The Knox School.
