The Extension and Enrichment program that is run in Year 7 and beyond is aimed at gifted and talented students who possess exceptional academic ability. The mission of the program is to enrich the learning experience of highly able students through the provision of opportunities aimed to excite and challenge.
Our vision at The Knox School is to develop and nurture the gifts and talents of young people through educational opportunities which challenge, inspire and maximise student potential.
The program is run under the auspices of the Differentiated Learning Department with the purpose of complementing what happens in the classroom. In order to meet the unique needs of gifted and talented students, The Knox School provides a curriculum that develops and draws upon higher order thinking skills. To further enhance the curriculum, the program aims to extend students through accelerated and enriched learning. In this program, the extension and enrichment co-ordinators consider the individual needs of each student and therefore the program varies in its degree of complexity, content, process and product.
