Overview

Purpose

The Mastery Transcript Consortium (MTC) is a growing network of public and private schools who are introducing a digital high school transcript that opens up opportunity for each and every student — from all backgrounds, locations, and types of schools — to have their unique strengths, abilities, interests, and histories fostered, understood, and celebrated. MTC Australia is a local hub for the global MTC network that supports collaboration, learning and development for schools and other institutions in the Australian context.

Guiding Principles

The work of the MTC Australia member schools is guided by the following principles and commitments:

1.     We have a common agenda for change that provides a foundation for our collective action.

Therefore, we will:

  • Build a common agenda that is guided by our shared purpose

  • Create a networked innovation space where schools can use the transcript to catalyse and support the (re)design of learning, teaching, and assessment

  • Regularly share descriptions of our respective school strategies, plans and work to allow for the development of common understanding

  • Engage with Higher Education institutions to develop new forms of recognition, rethink admission processes, and mobilise wider systemic change

2.     We are committed to a collaborative approach that enhances our individual and collective capacity 

Therefore, we will:

  • Respect the collective interest of the network, and those with whom we collaborate

  • Appreciate the contributions, expectations, and responsibilities of all members

  • Model effective in-person and digital collaborative processes

  • Encourage all Steering Committee members and Site Directors to participate equally

  • Build consensus decision-making processes to set goals within the framework of MTC that suit our varying Australian contexts

3.     We use agreed goals and measures to guide our learning, growth and improvement as a network

Therefore, we will:

  • Articulate clear goals and strategies

  • Develop common understandings and measures of success for the work of the network

  • Analyse and understand the contexts in which we work

  • Reflect upon and refine our goals and strategies based on the effectiveness of our actions

4.     We use open communication to promote learning, collaboration, and effective action

Therefore, we will:

  • Be open, clear and timely in our communication

  • Set proffered channels of communications

  • Use our communication channels exclusively for MTC Australia discussions

  • Share and use information in a respectful and ethical manner

5.     We support each other to nurture the development of a dynamic learning network

Therefore, we will…

  • Nurture and support the active participation of all members

  • Develop a culture of trust, mutual support and engagement

  • Promote equality and equity in our practices and behaviours

  • Promote the sustainable growth and development of the network in Australia and internationally

  • Contribute to systemic change in education for the benefit of young people
