Today, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of our Year 12 students as they receive their final VCE results, marking the culmination of their hard work, determination and resilience across their school journeys.

In 2024, our students achieved a median ATAR of 87 and Median Study Score of 33 – truly extra-ordinary! Significantly, we are also delighted to announce that 33% of our students achieved an ATAR of 90+, meaning that one third of our students are in the top 10% of our state. This is an impressive achievement and, dare I say it, is the best result in The Knox School’s history. Similarly, having 69% of our students achieving an ATAR of 80+ positions a majority of our students in the top 20% of Victoria. As an open-entry school, it is not possible to overstate how positive this result is for the entire cohort and reflects the really strong trajectory of our school. This is something to celebrate.

What is evident to me this year is that our students are on an exciting upward trend in relation to their academic performance – and we simply can’t attribute this success to only one thing. It’s a culmination of our commitment to the concept of learning at TKS as three journeys, intertwined and of equal importance.

At TKS, we consider learning to be not just a singular undertaking, but rather a journey on three levels: academic, skill and character. This, in combination with the hard work and dedication of the students themselves, their families and the innovative approach of our teaching staff, makes a powerful formula for excellence.

As a school community, we take immense pride in the holistic development of our students—an approach that transcends academics to nurture character, resilience and a sense of belonging. By fully embracing their time at TKS, this year’s graduates have built a strong foundation upon which they can continue to excel in their chosen pathways.

Our commitment to holistic learning is reflected in the TKS journey experienced by our 2024 School Dux, Rishika Rodrigues. An all-rounder who enthusiastically embraced so many co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities to lead, try and learn, her journey has also gravitated around her passion for The Arts and Music. TKS is proud to share that she has achieved an impressive 97.4 and her study scores include strong performances of 40+ in three subjects: English, Psychology and Visual Communication and Design.

Janelle Mathias, our Associate Principal – Head of Senior School, spoke to Rishika this morning who shared the following:

“I’m really grateful for all the teachers at TKS for supporting me and helping me achieve this amazing result. I’ve learnt so much during my time here, not only academically, but also about myself, my passions, and the importance of perseverance. I’m excited for what the future holds and to embrace the new challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”

We are immensely proud of the Class of 2024 and all they have accomplished in their time at TKS. Without a doubt, our Year 12 students have excelled academically, personally and in their contributions to the broader TKS community this year – you can see this shine through in the reflections some shared below in their own words. Whilst the academic results speak for themselves, with many students achieving high-quality ATARs and securing their place in top universities, I want you to remember it is the personal growth, friendships and memories made along the way that truly define our graduate’s experience at TKS.

To our entire community – students, families, staff and supporters – thank you for being part of these incredible journeys. Together, we have designed a learning ecosystem that fosters excellence, nurtures potential and prepares our students for a bright future. Thank you for your trust and partnership; to speak on behalf of everyone at TKS we are excited to see where their dreams will take them, and we are honoured to have played a part in their pathways.

I look forward to seeing our graduates continue to be a part of our community in the years to come, whether it is as a Sports Coach, Alumni Tutor, an Entrepreneurial Mentor or one of the other exciting initiatives on the horizon.

Congratulations to the Class of 2024! The world is yours to explore, and TKS will always be here, cheering you on.

Principal and Chief Executive

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

Some of our Year 12 graduates reflect on their journeys:

Audrey Wells
Whilst my time at TKS was shorter than the average as I only joined in Year 10, it has certainly changed every aspect of my life for the better. Allowing me to focus on my strengths and interests by offering opportunities beyond the campus, as well as providing feedback on my weaknesses to strengthen overall performance. Being a teenager and having to make decisions for the future is certainly daunting, but through personal connections and developing of character, TKS opened doors that I thought would forever remain just dreams. Through the stress of assessments and exams is where I realised that the school’s tight-nit community was no longer a school to me, but more so a second family, a second home. My family and I remain forever grateful for such wonderful opportunity at TKS.
Eugene Sulistyo
The Knox School was a place of inspiration and growth, where supportive teachers and the close connected community helped me thrive academically and personally. I joined TKS in Year 11 and during my time here, TKS helped shape my values, ambitions, and allowed me to make lasting friendships.
Oscar Troiani
Next year I am moving to Hobart to study a Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Studies at University of Tasmania. I was able to get into this course by doing various units at UTas during the school year and with the support of TKS teachers. I did not require an ATAR to reach my dream.
 Charlie Schnitzler
My 13 years at TKS revolved around the core concept of a well-connected community. Throughout my entire journey, fellow peers, guiding mentors and unforgettable moments within the TKS experience have built the foundations for what it means to be a part of something greater. Whether it was through clubs and co-curricular activities, the House Program or the everyday TKS lifestyle, I have truly learnt the importance of community in my time. The skills I have learnt and connections I have made I will carry and cherish with me throughout my life beyond The Knox School gates.
Amrit Sidhu
Looking back on my time at TKS, I feel so grateful for everything this school has given me. One of the things I’ll always treasure is the sense of community here, it’s a place where you truly feel like you belong. Whether its teachers encouraging us to push ourselves or friends who have become like family, TKS has always been about supporting each other. And, of course, the opportunities we’ve been given here have been incredible.
Being part of programs like DaVinci, Tournament of Minds, Melbourne Scholars, and Monash Scholars really helped me grow, not just academically but as a person. They challenged me to think outside the box, work as a team, and step up as a leader. I’ve learned how to stay calm under pressure and how to use creativity to solve problems, lessons I know will stick with me for life
Some of the most memorable moments for me came from experiences outside the classroom. The Nepal trip was unforgettable, it opened my eyes to the world beyond our school gates and taught me about compassion and understanding. Donating my hair and raising money was another milestone that reminded me of how small acts can make a big difference.
TKS has shaped me in so many ways. It’s given me the confidence to dream big and the skills to make those dreams a reality. I’ll always be proud to say I was part of this incredible community, it’s a place in which many memories were created and that will stay with me long after I leave.
Tisakya Munasinghe
The Knox School has been the place of some of my fondest memories. Not only have I developed many skills at this school, but I have learnt many lessons that have helped me become a better person. I am so grateful for the people who I have met and the strong bonds I have created at Knox.
