Together at The Knox School, we endeavour to instil in our students the skills and mindsets that enable them to grapple with challenges, the self-belief to embrace new opportunities and the confidence to pursue their passions.
We work closely with you and your child to prepare them for life as a well-educated, balanced, socially responsible young person able to contribute to an ever-changing global world. Most importantly, we look forward to sharing your child’s education journey with you!
As you begin your journey in our Early Learning Centre, Junior or Senior Schools, here are some useful resources that might assist you as you prepare for your first day:
Starting at a new school is an exciting time, and we are here to ensure that your child and family experiences a smooth transition to the Knox School. Whether you are starting at the beginning of the year, or somewhere in the middle, we are here to support your child with a successful start.
As your first day approaches, a member of your child’s teaching staff will be in touch with you with more information about what to expect from this program, particularly if you are joining us in a main intake year. Please keep an eye out for specific communications shared with you by email that outline the necessary activities that may be put in place for your child and relevant year level.
At The Knox School, we believe communication is the secret ingredient that makes everything click! Whether it’s brainstorming in class, teaming up for projects or just chatting in the halls, we know that being able to express ourselves and listen to others helps us connect, solve problems and make awesome things happen. That’s why we’ve put together some helpful information below to kickstart your journey.
Introducing The Nest
As a school, we will communicate with you from time to time to share events and news, providing you with a glimpse of the life of a TKS student. Most of our communication is via our Learning Management System, affectionately referred to as The Nest.
The Nest is The Knox School’s online portal and learning management system for students, parents and staff. The Nest is a one-stop shop for all information regarding your child, including reports and due dates for assessment, as well as school events and notices.
As your first day approaches, our IT Department will be in touch via email with your personal log in details. Logging in for the first time?
Simply click here to access a helpful guide to support your first log in to the system.
Download our School App
The best way to get your school communications on the go is to download our School App! Access the key features of TKS from the palm of your hand with The Knox School’s App. Receive instant and important information from your school community, real-time alerts and experience seamless collaboration between teachers, parents and students.
Simply click here for more information.
Introducing Knoxmail
Keep an eye out for the Knoxmail – our weekly newsletter typically distributed every Friday during term time. This will be delivered to you via email and you can also access past editions very easily via our School App.
You are also very welcome to follow us on social media via Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn (if you aren’t already).
We know how busy school life can be, and we’re here to help make staying organised as easy as possible. Wherever we can, we provide timely reminders for key events, and we go the extra mile to support families with the following tools:
Academic Term Dates
Planning ahead? You can view our published Term Dates on our website [click here]. We make these available as early as possible to help with your scheduling.
Termly Planners
Before each term begins, we release a handy Termly Planner – a one-page overview that’s easy to print and pop on the fridge. You’ll find it in The Nest once you’ve logged in.
Weekly Overviews in Knoxmail and on Social Media
Every week, we share what’s coming up via Knoxmail (available by email and in our School App) and our social media channels. Our staff work hard to keep you one step ahead with clear, accessible updates.
Detailed Calendar in The App
For more in-depth event information – such as time and location details – check out the calendar available in The Nest and viewable directly in the School App. Don’t forget that your child can also access their personalised schedules in this way too – this is where they will view their timetable when it is available.
We take your child’s privacy seriously. At The Knox School, we use a Media Gallery hosted by pixevety, for all photography and media consent management.
Pixevety provides our school community with a highly secure, central compliance platform to capture, collect, organise, protect and share school-related photos and videos. Its unique technology ensures that student photo consent is automatically applied in real-time to every image uploaded into the School Media Gallery and supports school staff in handling photos/media in full accordance with the law, our policies and your preferences.
By partnering with pixevety in this space, all The Knox School parents gain greater control over their child’s photographs. In other words, by using pixevety, families will be able to:
- Access galleries of images authorised by the School in real-time, with the ability to download images of their own children.
- Manage your child’s media consent preferences and let the School know in real time how you would like us to use your child’s image.
Once you gain access to The Nest, you will be able to find out more information about how to use this platform and communicate with us.
Our uniform is a symbol of identity and belonging, to be worn with pride. The Knox School partners with Dobsons for all uniform needs and we have a Uniform Shop on campus for your convenience.
Students from Prep to Year 12 wear their Summer Uniform in Terms 1 and 4 and Winter Uniform in Terms 2 and 3. Students also wear a Sports Uniform.

At The Knox School, we understand that every student is unique, with their own learning style, strengths and areas for growth. This deep understanding of individual learning profiles is central to our approach to personalised education. One of the most impactful ways we gather insights into each child’s learning preferences is through our annual Learner Profile Days.
The Learner Profile Days, which mark the start of the academic year for Junior School and Early Learning Centre students, are much more than just a routine. These thoughtfully designed sessions lay the foundation for each child’s educational journey, ensuring they are supported, understood and engaged throughout the year. It’s a time when students and teachers come together in a collaborative, reflective environment to build a profile that will guide learning experiences for the months ahead.
In the weeks of January leading up to the first day of Term 1 of a new Academic Year, please keep an eye out for booking information from our Junior School staff – they will be in contact to arange a time that best suits you and your child.
In the meantime, you may like to click here to learn more about what to expect from these important days.
As a school, we are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our students and their families. In accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) and the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic), we collect and manage personal and health information to fulfil our educational, reporting and compliance obligations. To protect your privacy, we implement strict data security measures and limit access to authorised personnel only. We also provide a privacy collection notice during the enrolment process and remind families annually to review our privacy policies.
The information we collect may include contact details, health records, emergency contacts and other relevant data necessary for the provision of education and support services. This data is used to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students, to support their learning needs and to comply with legal requirements, such as mandatory reporting of child abuse and adherence to the Child Safe Standards.
We are also required to participate in national data collections, such as the National Census and Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) on School Students with Disability. From time to time, we may reach out to you with a survey to ensure that the information we have available is the most up-to-date.
For more information on how we collect and manage personal and health information, or to access the information we hold about you or your child, please refer to our Privacy Policy and Privacy Collection Notice available on our website by clicking here.
The Knox School is proud to be a member of the Eastern Independent Schools of Melbourne (EISM) network. EISM offers a dynamic and sustainable sports program designed to provide engaging, meaningful and competitive opportunities for students across its member schools.
At the start of each academic year, our Sport Department may contact you to gather information about your child’s sporting interests and preferences. Please keep an eye on The Nest and your email for any related surveys.
We believe music and performing arts are an important part of a well-rounded education, which is why we offer our students the opportunity to learn an instrument in class at no additional cost to our families.
