Junior School Students Explore the World of STEM at 'It Takes a Spark'
On Thursday, 23 October, The Knox School hosted the ‘It Takes a Spark’ conference, a dynamic event designed to ignite curiosity and creativity in STEM learning.
13 of our Year 5 Enrichment students were invited to attend. For these students, attending the sessions opened a window into what STEM looks like beyond the classroom. They investigated the movement of water through the landscape like real hydrologists, used breadboards to build and test electronic circuits alongside university engineers, designed solutions to protect endangered wildlife, and had the chance to control a real-life BattleBot.
Students returned inspired and spoke with excitement about discovering STEM pathways they had never thought about before.
Opportunities like this empower our Junior School learners to see themselves as creators, innovators, and future changemakers in a world shaped by STEM. Experiences like this spark curiosity, build confidence, and remind students that their ideas have the power to make a real difference.
