Junior School TAD Show: A Celebration of Creativity, Design and Innovation
On Thursday 30 October, the Junior School held a combined Visual Art and STEM Show in the Auditorium Foyer, coinciding with the Stories That Sing concert. The evening highlighted how creativity and innovation flourish across the Junior School, with displays celebrating student work in Visual Arts, Design and Technology.
Art and STEM were combined in the one show to reflect the Senior School’s integrated approach to Technology, Art and Design (TAD). Together, they showcased how these disciplines are deeply connected through imagination, design thinking and creative problem-solving.
As part of the show, visitors explored an inspiring collection of projects that demonstrated how Design and Technology and Digital Technologies are woven throughout the Junior School curriculum. Year 5 students presented their Mission: SPACE projects, sharing what they learned about space, science, and engineering. Year 3 students captivated audiences with stop-motion animations, illustrating how early technologies shaped human progress, while Year 6 students showcased video games they designed and coded themselves.
Year 1 students displayed their imaginative playground equipment models, demonstrating their understanding of materials, forces and design through hands-on construction. The Year 6 Indigenous Garden Knoxpedition project highlighted sustainability and design thinking in action, and Year 4 students used podcasts to share their voices as active community members, celebrating those who support us and inspiring others to make a difference.
The evening was a joyful celebration of creativity, curiosity and innovation across the Junior School. Our young designers, makers and thinkers should be proud of all they have achieved. A heartfelt thank you to the families and community members who came along to support and engage with the students’ inspiring work.
