A message from the Chair of the Board

As the 2025 school year comes to a close, on behalf of the Board, I would like to thank the school community for another successful year. I am writing this article after spending an amazing afternoon with the Year 7’s, 8’s and 9’s as they presented some extraordinary projects that they have been developing during this semester. The quality of the work was exceptional and the depth of understanding across a variety of areas ranging from working in groups that were each charged with developing a case to advocate for a different animal facing extinction around the world, to individual passion projects and to a variety of other collaborative projects that included developing models to understand design sustainability. The insights of the students into what they learned such as understanding what is takes to get buy-in when working in collaborative teams was remarkable. It was such a pleasure to see the enthusiasm and the depth of understanding displayed by all of these students and it is refection of the quality of the teaching and learning opportunities that the school provides.

There is no doubt that the work of the staff across all aspects of the school’s operations is exemplary and this is reflected in the enthusiasm, passion and commitment everyone brings to the school. The tangible expression of this was seen in the school being acknowledged with the 2025 5-Star Best School award.

The work undertaken this year to create the new facilities that will be available for the start of 2026 has been exciting and rewarding. Our Property Manager, Mr Wayne Greig is deserving of a special mention for his role in bringing these plans to life. The outcome of these new endeavours is the creation of flexible and innovative spaces that will enhance what the school can offer as well as strengthening the wider school community.

This year the Board has overseen the work commenced in 2024, in conjunction with the Executive Team, to bring the strategic direction to fruition. We have also taken the time to review our own performance and consider what additional skills are required to strengthen the school’s governance and to reflect our forward-looking approach. To support the continued growth and development of the school, we are partnering with Future Leadership to identify and appoint new Board Directors next year. This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to strong governance and strategic leadership. We will be seeking individuals who bring diverse perspectives, experience, and a drive for contributing to the school’s future. Expressions of interest will be advertised through the Future Leadership website in mid-January.  https://futureleadership.com.au/your-career/opportunities/

Finally, I wish all members of the school community a safe and happy festive season and look forward to an exciting and successful 2026.
