Last week, our Year 7 students embarked on an unforgettable camp experience at The Ranch, located on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. The activities-based program was designed to excite, inspire and build students’ confidence as they stepped outside their comfort zones and embraced new challenges.

Throughout the camp, students enthusiastically participated in a wide range of activities including horse riding, the Flying Fox, the Giant Swing, hut building, bush dancing, the initiatives course, the Leap of Faith and archery. Each experience encouraged students to challenge themselves, try something new and support one another along the way.

A highlight for many was conquering the Giant Swing and taking the Leap of Faith – activities that required courage, determination and trust in their peers. The initiatives course and hut building activities promoted teamwork, problem-solving and communication, while bush dancing provided plenty of laughter and fun.

All activities were carefully designed to motivate and encourage collaboration in a supportive teambuilding environment. The program fostered a strong sense of achievement and helped students forge stronger relationships with their peers.

We are incredibly proud of the way our Year 7 students represented the School. They demonstrated resilience, respect and enthusiasm throughout the camp. It was a wonderful opportunity for personal growth, new friendships and lasting memories.

Student Reflections:

It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know new people and have fun exploring the different activities!  During Camp, the students showcased our School values: respect, care and empathy, resilience, achievement, responsibility. We also all learnt about self-awareness and how we could show this in in our activities!

Speaking of activities, we did lots of them: horse riding, Leap of Faith, Giant Swing, hut building, Flying Fox, initiatives and archery. We had amazing food and night activities too! The Year 7s had lots of fun and we were all tired at the end! We challenged ourselves to strive and achieve our goals, try new things, learn, raise our self-awareness and have fun!

The Year 7s had an incredible journey all the way through Camp and hopefully we will carry what we learnt and discovered through the year!

Camp was about facing my fear of going on scary rides and I overcame it!

Before the camp I set the following goals, all of which I achieved:

  •  I plan to go on the highest level of the Giant Swing and the Flying Fox as I love to challenge myself on scary rides
  • I’m feeling very excited and hopefully I can make new bonds with people
  • I will hold the door open for my peers; it will make them happy”

Camp was on Wednesday 13th of February at Mornington Peninsula. The bus ride felt long, but it was definitely worth the wait.

When we arrived, we started with a talk about what we wanted to achieve. We learned about self-awareness and the importance of keeping a positive mindset. My first activity was the Giant Swing, where the view was amazing and we worked together to pull each other up. My favourite activity was Horse Riding – we learned how to ride and took a relaxing walk through the valley. We also tried Archery. Even though I didn’t win the competition, I managed to get a bullseye with my eyes closed!

Each activity, including the Leap of Faith and team initiatives, taught us to try our best and support one another. Camp was an incredible experience full of challenges, teamwork, and unforgettable memories. I can’t wait for the next one!
