There is a buzz of excitement across The Knox School today as Senior School students pause classes to watch former student and Socceroos vice-captain Jackson Irvine represent Australia on the world stage.
With Australia taking on Paraguay in a highly anticipated World Cup clash that could determine the Socceroos’ progression to the knockout stage, students and staff gathered at 12pm to cheer on Jackson and the national team.
For the TKS community, the occasion is especially meaningful. Jackson was a popular and highly respected student who excelled both in the classroom and on the sporting field during his time at the School.
While his football talent was evident from an early age, Jackson’s sporting versatility was equally impressive. In his senior years at TKS, he joined the Senior Boys AFL team, where he quickly established himself as a dominant player, showcasing the same determination, athleticism and competitive spirit that have since become hallmarks of his professional career.
Seeing a former student wearing the green and gold on the biggest stage in world football is a proud and inspiring moment for students and staff alike, and a wonderful reminder of what can be achieved through talent, hard work and dedication.
As we await the final whistle, the entire TKS community is cheering on Jackson and the Socceroos. We send them our very best wishes for a successful result and look forward to following the next chapter of their World Cup journey. Go Australia!
