We are proud to share exciting news with our school community. Our Futures Hub has been recognised nationally, with The Knox School named an Excellence Awardee in the prestigious Australian Education Awards 2026 for Innovation in Learning Environment Design.

This recognition celebrates schools leading the way in creating engaging, future-focused learning environments that empower students to thrive. The award acknowledges our dedication, creativity and vision in designing spaces that foster collaboration, innovation, wellbeing and authentic real-world learning experiences.

At the heart of this achievement is the Futures Hub, a dynamic and flexible learning ecosystem, intentionally designed to reflect the school’s untraditional pedagogical approach. The precinct reimagines how physical space can support student agency, creativity and collaboration while connecting learning to real-world contexts.

The Futures Hub includes interconnected learning studios with operable walls and adaptable furniture, allowing students to shape the environment to suit their learning needs. These highly agile spaces support transdisciplinary learning, design thinking, project-based learning, while also transforming into exhibition spaces where students can showcase projects and products to authentic community audiences.

A dedicated co-working innovation space mirrors contemporary professional environments, enabling students to engage in entrepreneurial ventures, idea pitching and collaboration with alumni, start-up founders and experts-in-residence.

The Communications Lab adds another dimension to the precinct, supporting modern language learning through immersive technologies, including virtual reality, and enabling students to collaborate with local and international partners in authentic global projects.

The Futures Hub was developed through extensive consultation with students, staff, parents and industry partners to ensure the spaces reflected the evolving needs of contemporary learners. Since opening, feedback from students and teachers has highlighted increased engagement, collaboration, creativity and ownership of learning, with students actively adapting spaces to support brainstorming, prototyping, teamwork and focused inquiry.

This national recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to creating innovative learning environments that prepare students with the mindset, capabilities and confidence to shape the future, not tomorrow, but now.

We thank our teachers, students and wider community for their continued support and contribution to this achievement and wish all finalists the very best for the awards announcement later this year.
