The Knox School is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Ms Brittany Morgenthaler, who has attained National Certification as a Lead Teacher through Independent Schools Victoria (ISV).
National Teacher Certification for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers (HALT) is one of the highest forms of professional recognition available to Australian educators. Administered by the Independent Schools Victoria Certifying Authority in partnership with the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL), the certification provides a nationally recognised benchmark of teaching excellence and leadership. It acknowledges educators who consistently demonstrate exemplary practice, lead innovation, and make a significant impact on student learning and outcomes.
Achieving Lead Teacher Certification requires rigorous assessment against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, with candidates providing extensive evidence of their classroom practice, leadership capabilities and influence across their school community. The certification process is designed not only to recognise quality teaching, but also to promote professional growth and strengthen educational excellence across the sector.
For Brittany, the journey provided a valuable opportunity to critically reflect on and further strengthen her teaching practice, leadership skills and impact on student learning. Through documenting, analysing and filming her teaching, she was able to showcase the effectiveness of her classroom practice while demonstrating her leadership within The Knox School community.
A significant aspect of Brittany’s certification portfolio centred on her leadership in developing and coordinating transformative learning experiences beyond the classroom. Through programs such as the Anglesea and Arnhem Land camps, Brittany has demonstrated an exceptional ability to create meaningful educational opportunities that foster student engagement, resilience, independence and personal growth. These experiences encourage students to challenge themselves, broaden their perspectives and develop skills that extend far beyond traditional classroom learning.
The certification process also highlighted Brittany’s capacity to lead initiatives that enhance student outcomes while supporting the professional growth of colleagues. Her commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration and innovation reflects the qualities of an educator who not only inspires students but also contributes positively to the broader school community.
Reflecting on her achievement, Brittany said she looks forward to continuing to lead initiatives that expand opportunities for students and support positive learning outcomes. She remains passionate about helping students reflect on and engage in their own learning journeys, while also mentoring and supporting colleagues to strengthen their professional practice.
Brittany expressed her sincere gratitude to The Knox School and the colleagues who supported her throughout the certification process, particularly Nikki Kirkup, Isaac Rule, Toni-Ann Bright and Emma Nemec.
This nationally recognised achievement is a testament to Brittany’s dedication, expertise and leadership. We congratulate her on this significant milestone and thank her for the lasting impact she continues to have on our students, colleagues and School community.
