On Friday 23 May 2025 our school library buzzed with excitement as Prep students and their families came together to celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime – a beloved nationwide event that promotes the joy of reading and storytelling.
Students, parents and library staff joined more than 2,204,658 participants across 16,632 locations across Australia to read this year’s featured book The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel. The library was transformed into a vibrant reading space, complete with a themed display, reading corners and plenty of imagination!
This special event was made even more memorable by our Prep Parent Showcase. Families were invited to explore the fun learning happening in Prep Library through listening to The Truck Cat, seeing students become illustrators, supporting students in their selection of books for borrowing and having special reading time with their children. It was a fantastic opportunity for parents to engage with their children’s learning and celebrate their growing love for books and stories.
A huge thank you to our Prep parent community and library staff for making the day so engaging and meaningful. Events like these highlight the power of stories to connect us. It reminds us of the magic that happens when we learn together.
