Within our Junior School, we take great pride in recognising the qualities that make our students exceptional, and the Falcon of the Week award is one of the most meaningful ways we do this.
Named after our school crest, the falcon, the award symbolises important qualities such as Focus, Wisdom, Vision, Determination, Guidance and Excellence. These qualities are at the heart of our three learning journeys: Knowledge, Skills and Character.
Each week, students have the opportunity to earn the Falcon of the Week award by demonstrating these values in their everyday actions. Whether it’s showing enthusiasm for learning, being a supportive friend, helping classmates and teachers, or embodying kindness and respect, students make a lasting impact on our community through their words and actions.
How It Works
Teachers award Knox Tokens to students who display these key qualities. At Assembly, all the collected tokens are reviewed, and a few lucky names are drawn to receive the Falcon of the Week award along with a special certificate.
Our Deputy Head of Junior School, Sarah McKenzie, reflects on the significance of the award:
“In 2024, students earned hundreds of Knox Tokens every fortnight, demonstrating how many of our students embody the values of kindness, respect and excellence. This award is just one of the many ways we celebrate and encourage students to reach their full potential.”
The Falcon of the Week award provides us with the opportunity to celebrate the development of our students across their journeys of Knowledge, Skills and Character. We are proud to honour those who inspire others and set a positive example for the entire school community.
This recognition is more than just an award – it’s a celebration of our student’s growth and the positive impact they make both inside and outside the classroom. Through this award, we continue to encourage all our students to strive for excellence in everything they do.
