Set to take shape in the latter half of 2025, the Futures Hub is more than just a new building – it is a symbol of innovation and the future-focused approach to learning that exists at The Knox School.

Featuring state-of-the-art Harwyn Pods, the hub will provide up to six additional classrooms and a flexible multipurpose area. These facilities are designed not only to meet the needs of our growing student and staff body but also to serve as a collaborative space for our wider community which will also include our alumni.

Please note: this is an artistic render only and as with any build of this nature, construction will evolve over time and is subject to change. We are delighted to see the student and community interest that exists for what promises to be an exciting project that evolves over the coming months.

Early in 2024, our Year 8 changemakers were invited to take part in a project that asked them to imagine the future of learning at our school in a joint English, Science and TAD Knoxpedition that tackled the question ‘How to warm my classroom without warming the globe’.

Rising to the challenge, students explored the practical applications of their learning around energy transfer in Science, using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, Fusion 360, to digitally render their designs, and advertising in English, through engaging with a real-world client (TKS) who is on a mission to become net zero.

This hands-on approach is at the heart of our curriculum, which prioritises student agency and a transdisciplinary methodology – blurring the lines between subjects and bringing learning to life through real-world collaboration.

As part of their project-based learning experience, students visited Harwyn’s production facility, gaining firsthand insight into the cutting-edge design, functionality and sustainability of modular learning spaces. Little did they know, our Leadership Team were already collaborating with Harwyn for the development of our Futures Hub!

The Knox School continues to work closely with educators and external partners to refine the design of this learning environment that reflects the needs, aspirations and values of our learners – and we’re excited to share that construction of the pods has commenced at an external location:

The Future Hub will not only expand our school’s physical infrastructure but also deepen the learning experience, acting as an innovation hub where students, staff and community members can come together to imagine, create and grow.

To help make this exciting project possible, along with future building projects, the generosity of our community via contributions to our tax-deductible Building Fund are always welcomed and greatly appreciated. Contributions will have a direct and visible impact – enabling us to deliver state-of-the-art facilities that both enrich and enhance our teaching, learning and community. Recent upgrades in both the Junior and Senior Schools have already transformed the student experience, and the Futures Hub marks the next exciting step in this ongoing journey.

As the Futures Hub begins to take shape, we celebrate not only a new building but a new chapter, designed for generations to come.
