Junior School AFL: A Day of Active Learning and Healthy Habits

On Friday 5 December 2025, our Junior School students from Prep to Year 5 enjoyed a full day of energy, movement and teamwork as the TKS back oval became the centre of a range of AFL inspired activities. Across the day, students rotated through sessions that introduced key footy skills such as marking, kicking and handballing, along with games designed to promote healthy minds, healthy bodies and strong team habits.

Although the forecast brought unexpected heat in the afternoon, the enthusiasm never wavered. The final two periods were moved indoors to the Gym, where the activities continued with just as much excitement and encouragement. Our students were supported by a dedicated team of skilled coaches who created a fun, engaging and inclusive experience for every group.

The focus on Healthy Minds, Healthy Foods, Healthy Body and Healthy Team helped students reflect on the choices that support their wellbeing each day. It was wonderful to see them challenge themselves, collaborate with their peers and embrace the opportunity to try new skills. At the end of the session, all students enjoyed fresh fruit and left the day happily exhausted after giving their very best effort.

The AFL Day was a fantastic way to close out the year in the Junior School, bringing our community together through play, learning and shared enjoyment.
