The Junior School kicked off the year with a fantastic day of competition and community spirit at the Harold Holt Swim Centre in Glen Iris on Friday 6 February. Students from Years 4–6 threw themselves into the carnival with enthusiasm, helping us reach an impressive 94% participation rate. That level of involvement says so much about the commitment and courage of our students, and it’s safe to say we love our swimming at TKS!

A huge congratulations to Chisholm House, who are the 2026 House Swimming Champions. Their victory was well earned, but the day was made even more memorable by the determination, encouragement, and sportsmanship shown across all four Houses. The atmosphere on the pool deck was full of colour, cheering, and genuine TKS House pride.

“The Carnival had an atmosphere like a hurried factory; the announcer, Mrs Knight, shouted through her microphone every few seconds reminding students to get ready for their race . Students swam as frantically as a fish escaping a shark. Moreover, there was A LOT of splashing!

Many students would have felt very anxious before the day, and probably wondered, “What if I lose? What if I forget how to swim?” Miraculously, these concerns never came true, as they touched the wall and finished their races.” Isaac Shao – Year 6A

We were also fortunate to have both sub-schools together for the event, with our Year 11 House Captains adding leadership, encouragement, and plenty of voice to the stands.

12 Junior School swimmers represented TKS at District Swimming on Thursday at the Monash Aquatic Centre. We look forward to reporting on their experience as they have aimed for strong results and the chance to progress to the divisional finals!
