Meet Madame Moo: TKS Joins the Picasso Cow Program

The Junior School Art Department is excited to be part of Dairy Australia’s Picasso Cow Program this term. This creative initiative gives students the chance to learn more about the Australian dairy industry, exploring one of two themes: the journey of milk from farm to plate, or the important health and nutrition benefits dairy provides.

At the heart of the program is a near life-size fibreglass cow that students will design and paint to reflect the chosen theme.

  • Step One is already complete: our cow arrived at the school over the holidays.
  • Step Two was naming her, and the students certainly rose to the challenge.

More than 200 name suggestions poured in, ranging from the classic (Daisy, Milky, Patches) to the quirky (Sparkles, Picowso) and even the humorous (Peppa Pig, Taylor Swift, Simon Cowell). The winning name, suggested by Emily in Year 6, is Madame Moo, a name full of character, attitude and charm.

While the program will mainly involve Years 5 and 6, students from all year levels will have the chance to take part. The Art room is already buzzing with excitement as Madame Moo takes her place, and the project offers wonderful opportunities to connect creativity with learning about agriculture, sustainability, health and nutrition.

We look forward to sharing more updates as Madame Moo’s transformation unfolds and her final design is revealed at the end of term.
