Presentation Night 2025: Celebrating Achievement and Possibility
On Tuesday 21 October, The Knox School community gathered in the Robert Blackwood Hall at Monash University for our annual Presentation Night, a celebration of knowledge, skill and character, and a chance to recognise the achievements and talents of our students across the School.
Presentation Night is one of the most anticipated events on the School calendar. It brings together students, staff and families to reflect on the year that has been, spotlighting the effort, growth and creativity that define our learning community. This year’s event was filled with moments of pride, belonging and inspiration.
The evening opened with a stirring musical performance before TKS staff made their way through the auditorium, led by Principal Ms Nikki Kirkup. Chair of the Board, Ms Wendy Lewis OAM, then addressed the audience, sharing reflections on the School’s journey and the exciting future ahead.
In her address, Ms Nikki Kirkup spoke about the importance of allowing young people to explore, create and define success on their own terms. She encouraged families to nurture curiosity and to see success not as a single path, but as a collection of possibilities shaped by each child’s unique interests and talents. Her message celebrated the idea that education should open doors, not narrow them, and that true growth happens when we empower students to think differently and pursue what inspires them.
Throughout the evening, the Music Department played a pivotal role, showcasing the extraordinary talent of our young musicians. Their performances added warmth and energy to the night, reminding us of the creativity and dedication that thrive within our community.
Several ‘Voice Matters’ videos were also shared, featuring TKS students speaking in their own words about what they value at The Knox School and what makes it different. Their insights were both touching and genuine, highlighting the sense of belonging that underpins our culture.
The presence of student voice in every part of the program made this year’s event even more special. From the speeches to the reflections shared on stage, students wrote their own words and shaped the messages they wanted to share. Their voices brought authenticity, confidence and heart to the evening, capturing what it truly means to be part of The Knox School.
Awards and acknowledgements followed, celebrating achievement across Junior and Senior School. The Year 4 students took to the stage to perform a dance from the Wakakirri performance earlier in the year, to the delight of families and friends in the audience.
As the evening drew to a close, each of our Year 12 students was invited to the stage and congratulated as part of the graduating Class of 2025. A video featuring Prep students singing a farewell song brought the celebration full circle, a heartfelt reminder of the lifelong connection that begins at TKS.
This year’s Presentation Night marked a turning point for The Knox School. It was more than a celebration of achievement; it was a glimpse into our future, one where student voice is at the centre, and education continues to evolve as we look toward 2030 and beyond.
