Last Wednesday 9 September, students from The Knox School headed to Ruffey Lake Park to compete in the 2026 EISM Cross Country Carnival, taking on a challenging course against runners from schools across the EISM competition. TKS were this year promoted to Division 2 after a hugely successful 2025 event.

Representing TKS was an achievement in itself, with students selected to compete following their commitment to cross country throughout the term. Many had also taken advantage of the optional lunchtime training sessions at Norton’s Park during Term 3, building both their fitness and confidence ahead of race day.

Cross Country is a unique test of character. There are no substitutions, no time-outs and no shortcuts, just determination, pacing and the willingness to keep moving when the course gets tough. Throughout the day, our students demonstrated exactly that, pushing themselves across every age group and supporting one another from the sidelines between races.

The atmosphere at Ruffey Lake Park was both competitive and encouraging, with students embracing the challenge of the course while proudly representing The Knox School.

Significant individual efforts across the Year levels included;

Nicholas R (Year 9): 1st in Under 15 Boys
Hirun W (Year 9): 3rd in Under 15 Boys
Irina Z (Year 9): 3rd in Under 15 Girls
Alexandra I (Year 7): 3rd in Under 13 Girls

In addition, the Under 15 Boys won their age group in Division 2 with our overall finishing position being 6th.

Whether chasing a podium finish, a personal best, or simply the satisfaction of crossing the finish line, every runner contributed to a strong team performance.

Events such as EISM Cross Country highlight the value of persistence, preparation and personal challenge. We congratulate all students who represented TKS and thank them for the enthusiasm, resilience and school spirit they displayed throughout the day.

A special thank you also goes to our staff coaches and supporters who assisted with preparations and encouraged our runners throughout the carnival.
