On Wednesday 12 February 2025, we were thrilled to welcome Junior School families for a special Coffee Morning, an event designed to bring parents together for a casual and engaging opportunity to connect with their child’s specialist teachers.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of our campus, the Alt-T coffee van was a huge hit, serving delicious (and free!) coffee to parents while they mingled and got to know the dedicated specialists who work with their children. It was a wonderful chance for families to enjoy a hot drink and chat with the experts behind the subjects that make our Junior School curriculum so rich and dynamic.

But what exactly is a specialist teacher and how do they differ from the general classroom teacher? Let’s break it down…

Specialist teachers are educators who focus on a specific subject or area of expertise, bringing a wealth of knowledge and passion to their teaching. These subjects go beyond the typical core subjects like Mathematics and English and help enrich the learning experience for students. Specialist teachers cover areas like art, language, music, sport and more.

At TKS, our specialist teachers are the glue that binds our curriculum together, bringing interdisciplinary learning connections to life and offering students the opportunity to explore concepts from many different angles. Through subjects like Art, Language, Music, Sport and more, these educators inspire creativity, communication and physical development, whilst also encouraging critical thinking and collaboration. In other words, they help our students discover new talents and broaden their horizons, enriching their overall educational journey.

We look forward to hosting more events like this in the future and continuing to build a strong partnership between home and school. Thank you to all who attended and made this event so memorable!
