It has been a big week for The Knox School Music Department, with our talented string ensembles taking centre stage at the Victorian School Music Festival (VSMF) at the Hawthorn Arts Centre.

Across three consecutive days, students from Dolce Strings, Corelli Strings and Volante Strings proudly represented the School, performing alongside some of Victoria’s finest school ensembles in one of the state’s most respected music festivals. Dolce Strings opened the week on Monday, followed by Corelli Strings on Tuesday and Volante Strings on Wednesday, each delivering performances that showcased their dedication, musicianship and ensemble spirit.

The Victorian School Music Festival is more than just a performance opportunity. It provides students with the chance to perform in a professional venue, receive feedback from leading music educators and conductors, and learn from the many exceptional ensembles participating from schools across Victoria. Throughout the festival, our students immersed themselves in workshops, performances and adjudicator feedback, gaining valuable insights that will continue to support their musical growth.

For many students, performing on a professional stage is both exciting and challenging. It requires confidence, resilience, collaboration and countless hours of rehearsal. Our string ensemble students embraced every aspect of the experience, demonstrating the commitment and passion that continue to strengthen music at TKS.

While we are still eagerly awaiting the official festival results and adjudicator reports, we are incredibly proud of the way our students represented themselves and the School. Their performances reflected not only their musical skills but also the teamwork, discipline and enthusiasm that underpin successful ensemble music-making.

Congratulations to all members of Dolce Strings, Corelli Strings and Volante Strings, and thank you to our dedicated music staff for their guidance and support throughout the festival experience. We look forward to celebrating the results when they are announced and sharing more news with our community soon.
