Sharpening Skills Through Strategy and Untraditional Sport
The TKS Pro Badminton Academy wrapped up its Term 4 program in Week 9, after eight energetic Wednesday morning sessions held in the Sports Centre from 7.15am to 8.15am. Students arrived early, ready to learn, move and challenge themselves in a sport that rewards quick thinking just as much as physical skill.
Pro Badminton Academy is the biggest junior badminton academy in Victoria and is known for developing athletes at every level. They coach more Victorian state representatives than any other academy and have the highest number of athletes in both the National Senior and National Junior teams. Their expertise brought a dynamic edge to this specialist program, which was offered to students from Year 4 and above and reached full capacity with 48 registered participants.
Badminton may not be the traditional choice in Australian school sport, but that is exactly why it thrives at TKS. Much like Ultimate Frisbee, which has become a beloved part of our Senior Program, badminton invites students to think differently. It is fast, tactical and deeply strategic, asking players to anticipate, adapt and make smart decisions under pressure. These are the same future-focused skills we champion across our learning programs.
Throughout the term, our many budding badminton champions embraced the specialised coaching on offer. They sharpened their movement, improved their all-round technique and developed match-play awareness that extends well beyond the court. Every rally became an opportunity to practise courage, resilience and the kind of strategic thinking that prepares students for challenges in sport and in life.
The Pro Badminton Academy will return in 2026, likely in Semester 2, allowing space for basketball and volleyball programs to take centre stage in Semester 1. We look forward to welcoming the coaches back on campus and continuing to offer students untraditional pathways to build skill, confidence and character.
