I hope everyone has enjoyed a restful break and is returning refreshed, ready for another exciting term of learning, growth and connection. Every new term brings new opportunities to challenge ourselves, support one another and make the most of each day.
Our focus this term is built around a simple but powerful idea: Get, Not Got.
It’s amazing how changing just one letter can completely change our perspective.
It sounds small.
A micro-shift.
But the impact is palpable.
Got to, is the language of obligation, something being done to you.
Get to is the language of privilege – of opportunities available to you.
Instead of saying, “I’ve got to go to school,” we reframe and say, “I get to go to school.”
Instead of, “I’ve got to practice,” we can think, “I get to improve my skills.”
Instead of, “I’ve got to help,” we can remember, “I get to make a difference.”
When we say, “I get to…”, we recognise something many people around the world don’t always have: the opportunity to learn, grow, play, belong and contribute. It reminds us to be grateful for the experiences, relationships, and opportunities that surround us every day.
Gratitue doesn’t mean every day is easy. There will be challenges, mistakes, and moments that test us. But by choosing a “get to” mindset, we begin to see challenges as opportunities, responsibilities as privileges, and everyday moments as chances to learn and grow.
The best part of all is that you are the one who decides which word to choose!
The choice is yours.
As we begin Term 3, I encourage every member of our school community to pause and think about the many things we get to do:
We get to learn.
We get to make new friends.
We get to support each other.
We get to discover new talents.
We get to be part of a wonderful school community here at TKS.
Let’s make this a term where gratitude shapes our attitude, kindness guides our actions, and we embrace every opportunity with enthusiasm.
