Earlier this month, our Year 4 Students headed off to Camp Toolangi for an exciting three-day adventure filled with challenge, teamwork and unforgettable memories. Throughout the camp, students stepped outside their comfort zones, built resilience and strengthened friendships while participating in a range of outdoor activities.

Highlights included the climbing tower, high ropes course and damper making activities. Students demonstrated courage and persistence as they challenged themselves and encouraged their peers along the way. Despite the cold, wet and even snowy weather on the second morning, students embraced every opportunity with positivity and enthusiasm.

Camp also provided valuable opportunities for students to develop independence, responsibility and teamwork away from home.

Here’s what some of our students had to say about their experiences at camp:

Last week the Year 3 and 4 students went to Camp Toolangi. It was a two-night stay camp. It was about 1 hour away from school. While I was at camp, I made connections, faced challenges and saw changes in myself. – Zachary, Year 4

I feel like I made a strong connection with everyone in my cabin when we laughed together, made jokes and sometimes got a little annoyed at each other! I really enjoyed spending time with all my friends and classmates. – Nova, Year 4

I connected with one of the camp instructors, Casey! She encouraged me when doing the climbing tower even though I was scared. – Lenna, Year 4

It was good to spend more time with my friends and test things over my limits. I was a bit scared of being away from my parents, but I’ve done it before and was able to do it again. – Emerson, Year 4

At camp, I had some beautiful changes, I’ve realised that I’m more brave to try the activities that I’m scared of, e.g. high ropes. I hadn’t tried it before camp and I’m extremely scared of heights, but I challenged myself to give it a go. Also, I became more independent e.g. to solve problems by myself and not rely on others. – Jessie, Year 4

Some changes I saw in myself were that I felt brave when I did high ropes, the obstacles were hard, but I almost made it to the end. At the end of camp, I was more independent and confident. – Leanne, Year 4

Something that changed my feelings was at first I thought the high ropes and rock climbing were terrifying, but at the end I realised that they were very enjoyable and fun. – Travis, Year 4

Camp Toolangi was such a great experience! Something I learnt was that camp isn’t always about things going your way and you doing whatever you want. It’s about making new connections, trying your best at new things and having lots of fun! – Noor, Year 4
