Year 7 Students Explore the Wonders of Classification at Melbourne Zoo

On Thursday, 23 October, our Year 7 students headed to the Melbourne Zoo as part of their Science studies on classification.

This hands-on learning experience brought their classroom lessons to life, giving students the chance to observe an incredible variety of animals and explore how they are grouped according to shared features and characteristics.

As they moved through the zoo, students completed a learning booklet designed to connect theory with practice, deepening their understanding of biodiversity and the interconnectedness of life on Earth.

Beyond scientific learning, the excursion sparked plenty of curiosity and teamwork, with students sharing observations, comparing findings and engaging in lively discussions about the animals they encountered. It was a fantastic day of curiosity, collaboration and discovery, reminding students how science helps us make sense of the living world around us.
